A temporary hotel in Switzerland is perfect for travelers who want to practice social distancing and can’t decide if they want a luxurious night at a hotel or an evening of camping under the stars. The unique accommodation lets guests crawl into a comfy double bed without any walls (or roof) to impede their view.
The project, called Zero Real Estate, comes from Null Stern Hotels (German for zero stars) which first launched the pop-up hotel in 2017. The 'room' was created by conceptual artists Frank and Patrik Riklin and hospitality professional Daniel Charbonnier.
Rooms will be available to rent in the Swiss tourist destinations of St.Gallen-Lake Constance, Toggenburg, Heidiland, Appenzellerland AR, Thurgau, Schaffhauserland, and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
The hotel is managed by local residents and has a group of “modern butlers” who welcome guests and delivery trays of food and drink, with an overnight stay costing 250 Swiss Franc (€275/US$314) per night.
