Boghossian Foundation Announces 2024 Prize Winners in Lebanon: Celebrating Art, Cinema, and Literature.

 

The Boghossian Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2024 Prize in Lebanon, honoring exceptional talents across various artistic disciplines. The award ceremony took place on November 28 in Beirut, celebrating the achievements of these distinguished artists.

 

Visual Arts Category:

 

The Visual Arts Prize was awarded to three artists:

Hussein Nassereddine

Petram Chalach

Monya Riachi

 

Each laureate received a monetary award of USD 6,000. Additionally, the second prize winners are invited to participate in an artist residency at Villa Empain in Brussels, fostering cross-cultural exchange and providing them with international exposure.

 

Cinema ‘Coup de Cœur’ Category:

 

In collaboration with the Liban Cinéma Foundation, the Cinema ‘Coup de Cœur’ Prize was awarded to Joseph Khallouf for his film “Letters” (2023). This accolade includes a USD 10,000 prize and an invitation to a residency at Villa Empain, offering the filmmaker an opportunity to further develop his craft in a supportive environment.

 

Literature Category:

 

The Literature Prize, organized in partnership with the Assabil municipal libraries, recognized two authors:

Basma Khatib

Jana Salika

 

Each received a USD 3,000 award, acknowledging their contributions to youth literature and manuscripts.

 

About the Boghossian Foundation Prize:

 

Established in 2012, the Boghossian Foundation Prize aims to promote artistic exchange between the East and the West, providing opportunities for young Lebanese artists to gain recognition and support. An international jury, chaired by Louma Salamé, director of the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels, selects the winners. Since its inception, the prize has honored 59 artists, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to nurturing creative talent and fostering intercultural dialogue.

 

The 2024 laureates exemplify the rich artistic diversity present in Lebanon today. Through their respective mediums, they contribute to the cultural tapestry of the region, embodying the Boghossian Foundation’s mission to bridge cultures through the arts.
