The idea around the campaign is to encourage followers to replace shopping the latest trends or buying from fast fashion brands with something smarter, whether that means stopping consumption of clothing entirely, using a swap or rental platform, upcycling, or buying vintage and consignment. Remake is asking participants to adhere to the challenge for the next 90 days.
What our community is saying is that we are going to take this challenge to reset our relationship with our closet, take stock of what we have and do so over the course of the summer. Virtual mending workshops will be on offer, as well as others involving DIY dyeing and sewing. The organization is also asking its community members to share the looks they’ve been wearing, as well as host discussions around upcycling. It’s supposed to be something fun for our community to do and not something prescriptive.
