The Saudi Athr exhibition announced its participation in the International Art Basel Fair, Basel 2022, which is the first time that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated in the exhibition since its establishment in 1970 through the participation of the Saudi artist Ahed Al-Amoudi.

Athr is a contemporary art gallery that will participate in Art Basel, an international for-profit contemporary art fair that provides platforms for displaying and selling artworks without imposing restrictions on the works on display. Basel Fair is held annually in Switzerland, Miami and Hong Kong to be a destination for all world artists.

After the exhibition was absent in 2021 due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, the exhibition will return again in 2022 with the participation of the Kingdom through “Athar” and in cooperation with the artist “Ahed Al-Amoudi”. Ahed is a Saudi artist who grew up between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. She studied Psychology and inherited from her mother a love of arts to reflect her art through photography, video and print. Her work aims to update the historical presentation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through her research on reformist ethnography in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Minister of Culture, His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, expressed his support by re-publishing the announcement of Saudi Arabia's participation in Art Basel through his personal account.
