The US Space Agency (NASA) said, Sunday, that a large asteroid the size of a soccer stadium will pass along the planet Earth, tomorrow, Tuesday.

 

The asteroid, which has a width of 680 meters, discovered by astronomers in 1999 and named it (RM45), is scheduled to approach 1.8 million miles from Earth.

 

While this asteroid does not pose an initial threat to Earth, this distance is close enough for astronomers to spot the asteroid and follow its movement.

 

Asteroids are rocky bodies with a diameter ranging between a few meters and several kilometers, while the larger bodies are called dwarf planets, and the largest of them are the planets.

Scientists at NASA say that the rate at which an asteroid collides with the size of a soccer field is approximately once every two thousand years, which causes damage in the area and its surroundings. As for the major bodies whose collision with our planet leaves tremendous devastation at the level of the Earth as a whole, it is a very rare event that occurred the last time 66 million years ago.

 

In recent years, the scientific community has doubled its efforts to count the bodies that swim near the Earth and whose orbit may intersect with the Earth's orbit and hit them.

 

In theory, the collision of any of these objects will lead to a disaster, as the atmosphere will not be able to break them all before they reach the earth, and their collision will lead to thousands of deaths and massive destruction in all parts of the earth.

 

Therefore, scientists and space agencies are working to study possible ways to neutralize any object heading to Earth from its path, in plans reminiscent of science fiction movies.
