Billy Porter is using social distancing as an opportunity to express creativity. This week, the Pose star called on his fans to engage in a little DIY fashion fun while staying at home, tasking his followers with re-creating one of his most memorable red carpet looks: his theatrical 2019 Met Gala ensemble. Thus, the #BillyPorterFashionChallenge was born.

 

The Met Gala’s theme last year was all about camp; embodying this spirit, Porter stormed the pink carpet last May in a custom “Sun God” ensemble by The Blonds, which included a bejeweled catsuit outfitted with 10-foot wings, a 24-karat gold headpiece, custom gold-leaf Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and tons of fine jewels. (The outfit was inspired by Diana Ross in 1975’s Mahogany and Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, among other cinematic references.)
