With more than 3,500 items, amounting to some 5kg of gold and 1.4kg of silver, plus thousands of garnets, the Staffordshire hoard remains the largest cache of Anglo-Saxon metalwork ever found. In 2010, it was acquired jointly for the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent; the two institutions have since collaborated on a sumptuous website, with high-resolution photography of each object, along with in-depth analysis.
